A delegation from the Russian Institute for Strategic Studies (RISS) led by Director Mikhail Fradkov visited the Republic of India. The visit to New Delhi took place from October 12 to October 16.
RISS representatives participated in the conference: «India-Russia: Navigating the Challenges in a Turbulent Global Landscape». The event was organized by the Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF).
VIF Director Arvind Gupta stressed that the current areas of cooperation in the economy, trade, military-industrial complex and humanitarian spheres contribute to the strengthening of Russian-Indian relations, as well as the development of an atmosphere of mutual understanding between Moscow and New Delhi. In turn, Mikhail Fradkov noted that Russia and India are long-standing and reliable partners, and trusting relations have been established between our countries in the field of security.
On the evening of October 13, Indian dances were held at the Russian House in New Delhi, where students from Delhi dance schools performed.
During the visit, the RISS delegation met with representatives of the Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defense Studies and Analysis. A constructive exchange of views took place on a wide range of issues of mutual interest.
Mikhail Fradkov also had a conversation with the Chief of the Defense Staff of the Indian Armed Forces, Anil Chauhan, during which issues of Russian-Indian cooperation in the military-industrial complex were discussed.
As part of the cultural program, the RISS delegation visited the world's tallest brick minaret, Qutb Minar, the main Bahai temple in India and neighboring countries, the Lotus Temple, the historical citadel of Delhi during the Mughal era, the Red Fort, and the first dynastic mausoleum of the Mughals, the Tomb of Humayun. While in New Delhi, the RISS staff also got acquainted with the exposition of the Prime Ministers Museum, located on the territory of the first Prime Minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru residence.
