The Greenland Question: History and Present

For many years, the ownership of the largest island on Earth was not particularly controversial. Only occasional discussions arose about the prospects for mining and processing rare earth metals there. However, with Donald Trump's arrival in the White House, and especially with the start of his second presidential term, discussions about Greenland's future have shifted from the realm of expert opinion and publicity to real politics.

Gleb Dovgilenko, PhD in history and senior expert at the RISS Euro-Atlantic Center, discussed the origins of American claims to the "Island of Ice," including in the context of Danish colonial policy.
