Rivalry for Energy Resources in the Eastern Mediterranean
On February 18, the Russian Institute for Strategic Studies held a roundtable discussion on "Rivalry for Energy Resources in the Eastern Mediterranean." Participants included Pavel Timofeev, Head of the Regional Problems and Conflicts Sector at the Department of European Political Studies at IMEMO RAS; Alexander Simonov, Associate Professor at the Department of International Economic Relations at the Faculty of Economics at RUDN University; Irina Svistunova, Senior Researcher at the Regional Relations Group at the Center for Middle Eastern Studies at IMEMO RAS; Amur Gadzhiev, Senior Researcher at the Center for Middle Eastern Studies at the Institute of Oriental Studies at the Russian Academy of Sciences; and RISS specialists.
At the event, experts discussed key aspects of the transformation of the Eastern Mediterranean gas market and assessed the prospects for developing interstate cooperation in the region's electricity sector amid heightened geopolitical tensions.
