"New developments in the Baltic-Scandinavian region in regard to the Russia's interests"

On January 30, the Russian Institute for Strategic Studies hosted a round table on "New developments in the Baltic-Scandinavian region in regard to the Russia's interests." 

Presentations were made by senior researcher at the International Organizations and Global Political Regulation Sector of IMEMO RAS Alexander Alyoshin,; senior researcher at the MGIMO Institute of International Studies of the Russian Foreign Ministry Artyom Sokolov; senior researcher at the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Ekaterina Skvortsova; junior researcher at the Regional Problems and Conflicts Sector of IMEMO RAS Nikita Belukhin, as well as relevant RISS experts. 

The participants of the round table discussed actual issues related to present-day security conditions in the Baltic-Scandinavian region. Special attention was payed to the approaches of the United States and its allies to cooperation in the military-political sphere. In this regard, experts emphasized that transatlantic community strives to militarize the region, despite the risks of increasing tensions caused by this activity.
