On February 8, the Russian Institute for Strategic Studies hosted the conference "Southeast Asia amid a shifting world order."
The event was attended by Dmitry Mosyakov, the Head of the Center of South-East Asia, Australia, and Oceania of the Institute of Oriental Studies, Alexey Drugov, Editorial Board member, Chief Researcher in the South-East Asia, Australia and Oceania Centre, IOS RAS, Andrey Karneev, Head of the School of Oriental Studies of the Faculty of World Economy and World Politics of the Higher School of Economics, Ekaterina Astafieva, Senior Researcher of the Institute of Oriental Studies of RAS, Elena Kutovaya, Associate Professor of the Department of History of the Far East and Southeast Asia, ISAA MSU, and RISS profile experts.
The participants analyzed the positions of the leading states of Southeast Asia in the international arena amid a shifting world order. According to experts, the growing confrontation between the United States and China is becoming an increasingly important factor in the development of Southeast Asia. The growing mutual interest in the economic, humanitarian, and political spheres has highlighted the great potential for the development of cooperation between Russia and the states of the region.
