Political Trends in Latin America were discussed at RISS
The Russian Institute for Strategic Studies hosted a roundtable discussion chaired by Deputy RISS Director, Head of the Center for Research Coordination I. Borovkov to discuss «The political trends in Latin America and Russian interests» on September 21st.
Dmitry Razumovsky, Director of the Institute for Latin American Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, gave a welcoming speech to open the event. The round table was attended by the researchers from M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University, Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO), the Institute of Latin American Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences (ILA RAN) and RISS subject matter experts.
The participants noted the traditionally high level of interaction between Russia and a number of Latin American countries despite the intense political changes in the region. They also stressed the need to increase cooperation with Latin American countries in different spheres, including healthcare and overcoming the economic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.
