The Horn of Africa Countries in the Focus of Regional and Global Players
On February 6, the Russian Institute for Strategic Studies hosted a roundtable discussion on "The Horn of Africa Countries in the Focus of Regional and Global Players," chaired by RISS Director Mikhail Fradkov. Invited participants included Professor Nigusie Kassaye W. Michael of the Department of Theory and History of International Relations in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at RUDN University; Vladimir Shubin, Chief Researcher at the Institute of African Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences; Andrey Maslov, Director of the Center for African Studies at the Higher School of Economics; Andrey Shelkovnikov, Expert at the Center for African Studies at the Higher School of Economics; and Ivan Kopyttsev, Junior Researcher at the Center for North African and Horn of Africa Studies at the Institute of African Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
During the discussion, experts examined political, economic, and cultural-humanitarian interactions between key countries in the region, as well as current developments in the international situation around the Horn of Africa.
