Economic Policy of India Discussed in RISS

On 11 September, the RISS hosted an expert meeting “Peculiarities of India’s multi-vector foreign policy”. The main speakers were N. Galistcheva, Head of the World Economy Department in MGIMO University; L. Kulik, Head of India Studies at the Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO, Senior Research Fellow at RAS Institute of Oriental Studies; RISS Leading Expert V. Usov. The representatives of IMEMO (the Institute of World Economy and International Relations) also took part in the meeting. They were E. Zeegofer, Junior Research Fellow at the South Asia and Indian Ocean Group, and E. Kosareva, senior research assistant at the Section for New Challenges in South and Southeast Asia.

The experts touched upon a wide variety of topics, related to the Indian priorities in foreign policy in terms of bolstering country’s position on a global stage. Furthermore, the participants noted consistency of Indian approaches towards long-term trade and economic relations and their role in the inner development of the country. The experts highlighted the prospects for deepening strategic ties between Moscow and New Delhi. This partnership is based on traditional friendship and trust.
