Contemporary Geopolitical Thought in Central and South-Eastern Europe

On May 28, the Russian Institute for Strategic Studies hosted a scientific conference on the topic of "Contemporary Geopolitical Thought in the Countries of Central and South-Eastern Europe." The event was attended by Nikolai Mezhevich, Chief Researcher, Head of the Center for Belarusian Studies at the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences, President of the Russian Association of Baltic Studies, Doctor of Economics, Nikita Bondarev, Senior Researcher at the Institute of Slavic Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Igor Shornikov, Senior Lecturer at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Igor Shornikov, Lecturer at the Department of Political Science at Moscow State Linguistic University Alina Azarenkova, Rex News Agency observer Stanislav Stremidlovsky, as well as relevant experts from the Institute.

As part of the discussion, experts viewed the current state of geopolitical thought in the countries of Central and South-Eastern Europe. It was noted that against the backdrop of events taking place in the world, the leadership and expert community of these countries are seeking to rethink their place and role in the international arena, develop new approaches to solving development problems, ensuring their own and regional security, and assess the prospects for their perception in society.
