Balkan vector of global politics

On December 19, the Russian Institute of Strategic Studies hosted a regular meeting of the Book Club, dedicated to the history of the Balkans and contemporary situation in the region.

Doctor of Historical Sciences, Chief Researcher of the Department of Modern History of Central and South-Eastern Europe of the Institute of Slavic Studies Elena Guskova spoke about the main trends in the development of the situation on the Balkan Peninsula and its significance in world politics.

The discussion participants drew attention to the role of external players in the region, especially highlighting the destructive activity of NATO and the EU in provoking tension. The growing demand in the Balkans for new cooperation projects, such as BRICS, was especially noted.
